There are 80 kilometres of trails in the entire Arlberg region and 27 kilometres of cross-country ski trails right here in Lech. And they are impressive. Wide trails and the best snow conditions make the experience a true winter sports highlight off the slopes.

Learn cross-country skiing in Austria
You are not cross-country skiing on a regular basis or you want to give it a go for the very first time? At the Arlberg in Austria, cross-country skiing instructors will guide you through the trail network or teach you the right technique during group or individual lessons. The Lech ski school at the Schlegelkopfbahn valley station or the Oberlech ski school very close to the Sonnenburg are the right places to go.
You can rent cross-country skiing equipment from various sports shops and ski rentals in and around Lech – and with the trails starting directly in Lech, the walk to the starting points in full gear is pleasantly short.

Lech – Zug
Are you new to cross-country skiing?
Then the trail from Lech to Zug is the right one for you. Starting from the centre of Lech, the trail is flat and occasionally goes slightly uphill – perfect for beginners and practising new techniques.

Zürs – Flexenpass
Are you looking for a challenge?
The cross-country ski trail from Zürs, across a high plateau and to the Flexenpass is the right choice for advanced cross-country skiers in Austria. Take time for a break and stop at the rustic Flexenhäusl at the top.

Zug – Älpele – Tannlägeralpe
Do you want to conquer a big loop?
This cross-country trail takes you via Zug to Gasthof Älpele, to the Tannlägeralpe and back to Zug. Enjoy the peace and quiet on the banks of the river Lech and in the valley Zug and marvel at the wintry landscape.
Difficulty: difficult
Distance: 10.4 km

Cross-country skiing

The easier cross-country ski trails in Lech are also ideal for junior cross-country skiers. Children from the age of 4 to 5 can make their first attempts and learn to cross-country ski in the Austrian Alps.
